How to graciously support the ministry of Danebod

Thank you for considering a personal or memorial contribution to Danebod Lutheran Church. The gifts of our members and friends are the way ministry happens here, and we’re grateful for the 100+ years of dedication and generosity the people of this community have shown.

Undesignated gifts are appreciated and will be used by the Church Council as needed. Five percent of undesignated gifts will be placed in the Danebod Evangelical Church Foundation Fund.

DURING WORSHIP

We pass an offering plate during worship services and other gatherings giving members an opportunity to regularly support the ministry of this congregation. We also have text to give available at 507-204-9318.

DANEBOD LUTHERAN CHURCH FOUNDATION

Gifts to this foundation will be used to preserve and maintain the history and traditions of the entire Danebod Lutheran Church and Folk School complex by supporting the general budget, fund special projects, or to provide an avenue to fund capital improvements.

Assets of the Danebod Lutheran Church Foundation, the Danebod Folk School Foundation and the Cemetery Fund are managed by the Danebod Financial Committee

DANEBOD CEMETERY FUND

Gifts to this fund are used to maintain and enhance the Danebod Cemetery. This maintenance includes mowing, trimming, spraying, tree trimming, removal and planting of trees, maintenance of fences and entry pillars, and road upkeep.

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS

Gifts may be designated to enhance, foster and strengthen the activities of the Danebod church. Examples of funds include music programs such as choir or hand bells, youth programs such as three-day camp or the scholarship fund, and the flower fund.

DANEBOD FOLK SCHOOL FOUNDATION

Gifts to this foundation will be used to preserve, maintain, and enhance the Danebod Folk School campus, specifically all buildings and property from State Street and east. The assets of this fund can only be used for capital expenditures and special projects and must be specific to the Folk School campus.

MATERIAL DONATIONS

Thank you for considering Danebod for your material donations! We are proud and grateful to hold Danebod-related artifacts. Of course, we have a limited capacity to preserve and display these gifts with the respect they deserve, which unfortunately means we cannot accept every treasure that is offered. Here is our process for thoughtfully reviewing potential material donations. Please reach out to the Main Office with any questions, and thank you for your consideration:

Policy for donating material items to Danebod:

Priority for acceptance is given to items that have a provenance or connection to Danebod. Periodically, there are items that have a connection to Tyler that are accepted as well.

If you leave a donated item on the campus without prior approval, your item may be discarded or donated elsewhere. Please attach a note to your item with your name, contact information, and item provenance. The potential for care of an item donated without prior approval is left to the discretion of the museum leadership.

Donation Process:

  1. Contact the Danebod office at 507-247-3000 or stop by in person. Leave a message if you call and nobody is available.
  2. Danebod office personnel will contact any designees and representatives from the Property Committee, Folk School Committee, and Congregation Council about your donation. If there is interest in your donation, you will be contacted to schedule a time to meet regarding the item.
  3. When you meet regarding the item, please bring the provenance and any other details about the item to ensure that the item is properly documented for display or other use. Accession cards are available in the stone hall as well as in the church office for documenting this information.
  4. Items acquired by Danebod become the property of Danebod (unless specified as “on loan”).   Property of Danebod may, in the future, be discarded.
  5. As per Danebod policy, acknowledgement of the gift through signs and/or plaques is not permitted. However, historic significance may be included if the item is displayed.
